Istanbul Third Airport to be Open Next Year
Another remarkable achievement is on its way to take place next year in Istanbul, thus achieving a quantum leap in the aviation sector. Turkish Transport and Communications Minister Ahmed Raslan predicted that this airport will contribute an additional $ 80 billion to Turkey’s gross domestic product, which is one of the world’s largest and most modern airports, and will provide services to 200 million passengers worldwide annually when fully completed. This pilot project is being implemented in cooperation between the public and private sectors in Turkey.
The cost of establishing the third airport in Istanbul is about 10 billion euros, while the operation of the airport is expected to generate revenues of 22 billion euros in 25 years and will provide more than 100,000 jobs annually at the oppening of its first phase.
